The 3rd annual Chili Cook-Off Fundraiser—led by cancer survivor and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Corporator Jessica Stewart—substantially surpassed its fundraising goal by raising nearly $30,000 for the hospital’s Pink Rose Fund.

The event was held Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Green Woods Country Club in Winsted, where local businesses and residents were invited to fundraise in support of breast cancer patients and screenings in northwest Connecticut. The Chili Cook-Off featured seven contestants and David Oliver’s Cravings Café & Grill was declared the winner of the competition.

The annual Chili Cook-Off has generated $52,000 for the Pink Rose Fund over the last three years. Additionally, Jessica Stewart played a major role in the creation of the hospital’s Healing Garden, located at the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Center for Cancer Care in Torrington.

“Jessica Stewart has been a magnificent friend to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, and we are so grateful and inspired by her deep commitment to our region’s breast cancer patients and assistance programs,” said Debbie Bender, Director of Philanthropy. “Community fundraisers are an important and fun part of philanthropy at our hospital and we are always pleased to have grateful patients, such as Jessica, remain connected to our organization and support our mission.”

Charlotte Hungerford Hospital’s Pink Rose Fund provides support for educational outreach and screenings to assure that the women of northwest Connecticut have comprehensive, coordinated access to breast cancer services, programs, and treatments.
