Charlotte Hungerford Hospital is grateful to The Neag Foundation for awarding a $13,000 grant to support an interactive and therapeutic autism treatment program at the Center for Youth & Families.
“Connections” is an innovative outpatient program that underscores Hartford HealthCare’s commitment to mental health and northwest Connecticut’s young patients and their families. Grounded in evidence-based practices, the program was established to support children and teens with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), as well as other mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, and impulsivity.
The Center’s expert autism team works with families and schools to develop tailored treatment and curriculum plans that will help young people with ASD develop their skills in emotional expression, behavior management, self-regulation, and self-esteem.
“We believe in caring for the whole child and making sure each patient’s unique needs are met with individualized approaches that will produce the best outcomes,” shared Debbie Bender, Director of Philanthropy at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. “We are grateful to The Neag Foundation for this generous investment in Connections, which will expand and strengthen our successful ASD outpatient program and allow us to implement new screening processes, staff trainings, and parent support groups for the benefit of those who rely on our compassionate care.”
