The Jeffrey P. Ossen Family Foundation (JPOFF) generously awarded two $10,000 grants to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and Backus Hospital to support their Food4Health programs.

The JPOFF collaborates with Connecticut organizations to enhance access and create opportunities that elevate the well-being of all individuals. Believing that residents should have access to equitable healthcare for both their body and mind, the JPOFF partners with organizations that provide comprehensive care for the whole person—making Hartford HealthCare and Food4Health natural beneficiaries.

Understanding that nutrition is essential for good health, Charlotte Hungerford Hospital launched Food4Health—a free program that provides food-insecure patients access to nutritious foods and professional guidance on healthy eating and food preparation. Program participants have reported significant weight loss, reductions in A1C, blood pressure, and stress levels, as well as increases in their mobility and food security.

“Charlotte Hungerford is thrilled to receive our first grant from the Jeffrey P. Ossen Family Foundation and launch a partnership that will enhance access to our healthcare and create meaningful change within a region overcoming challenges associated with food insecurity,” said Debbie Bender, Director of Philanthropy at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. “We are very grateful to the JPOFF, Jeffrey Ossen, and his daughters—Elizabeth, Jacqueline, and Carolyn—for their philanthropic support of Food4Health and the communities we serve.”
