The annual Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Golf Classic scored another ace on Monday, June 2, 2025, by welcoming over 140 golfers to beautiful Torrington Country Club and raising $300,000 for the hospital’s new Palliative Care Program—a new fundraising record for the tournament.
“We are always so grateful for the tremendous philanthropic support we receive from our community through the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Golf Classic,” said John J. Capobianco, Senior Vice President of Operations, Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. “This event not only raises critical funding that the hospital relies upon to maintain our excellent care and services, it also provides a platform for us to promote our mission, our colleagues’ service, and Hartford HealthCare’s efforts to improve the health and healing of northwest Connecticut today and in the years to come.”
The 23rd edition of the popular golf fundraiser was led by Honorary Chair and Charlotte Hungerford Corporator Bill Zampaglione of PAC Group, who generously served in this leadership role for the third consecutive year, and PAC Group served as the event’s Title Sponsor.

Available for patients at any age and any stage of illness, Charlotte Hungerford Hospital’s Palliative Care Program complements curative treatments and helps patients navigate chronic conditions such as cancer, dementia, COPD, stroke, and kidney or liver failure. The hospital’s team of palliative care experts connects patients with critical resources—including support groups, pain management specialists, rehabilitation programs, nutritionists, and spiritual care. Additionally, the program also provides families and caregivers with guidance and resources to ease the emotional and financial challenges of caregiving.
