The 1916 Society celebrated 16 new members who included Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in their estate plans at the society’s annual reception in September 2025. Named for the hospital’s founding year, the 1916 Society honors those whose planned gifts create a lasting legacy of compassion and community.

Dozens of society members and leaders from Hartford HealthCare and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital gathered to hear updates on recent successes and ongoing initiatives in the northwest region—many of which are being shaped by the society’s generous support.

Cynthia Oneglia, Honorary Chair of the 1916 Society, and Dr. Abbie Saccary, an Emergency Medicine physician and the President of Charlotte Hungerford’s Medical Staff, both shared personal stories and commitment to the hospital’s future.

“We are so grateful to our 1916 Society members for ensuring Charlotte Hungerford Hospital will continue serving our communities for generations to come,” said Debbie Bender, Director of Philanthropy. “Their leadership enables us to deliver the world-class care, innovative programs, and cutting-edge technology our patients deserve.”
